Review #1

the set was a typical tjl show- the band tight, david yow kind of drunk and crazy- he got naked, made out with people, the crowd rowdy. the songs were all represented in earlier reviews of shows- nothing out of the ordinary...i'm waiting to hear trephination and tomorrow will be my last chance. the casbah was pretty small and i wasn't feeling all that barbaric so i only stayed up front for the first half. here's what they were wearing: david yow: black dickies pants, black long sleeve shirt, cowboy boots duane: a blue "midnight blue" t-shirt, tan shorts, black one stars dws: black short sleeve button up shirt, black jeans, blue cons jim: white t shirt, black jeans

the crowd really bummed me out...they were very aggro and brought that side in dy out. after the show people kept asking me for cigarettes and saying really lame things- i left in a bad mood and now i have insomnia. the casbah did have a nice guns and roses pinball machine. i saw quite a few people that had been to all three so. cal shows.

Just got home from the 7/10 Casbah San Diego show. Really great as usual. Played pretty much the same set list as the other shows on thistour - about 4 or 5 from the new album, the rest the regulars. The newsongs rock much better live than on the album. People went particularly apeshit during "Cold Water" and "Postcoital Glow". Yow deep french kissed some girl standing by the stage for a really long time, and herboyfriend was totally into it, apparently having encouraged her. Yow'spants were dropped for a good long time during the encore too, and heran out in the street to sing part of a song. (As he has done in almostevery JL show I have been to!). Firewater was fun to watch too. Forsome reason, I had thought Duane Denison was in the band. I guess I'mwrong, or else he used to be & then left. Anyway, I'm going to tomorrow night's Casbah show too & I'll post a message if anything interestinghappens. I wonder what the JL do during the day? It'd be pretty bizarre to run into them at the beach or the SD Zoo.MW
